Tennis is a highly technical sport that requires hours of instruction, practice, and repetition to develop a strong foundation of skills. Advancing from one level to the next is a gradual process that takes place over years, not weeks. Improvement comes through time, consistency, and patience. Advancement is not a reward for improvement—it is a decision based on readiness. Our objective is not to move students up as quickly as possible, but to place them where they will learn the most. Students advance when they have developed a strong foundation and can consistently demonstrate the skills required at their current level. Moving up too early often creates gaps in that foundation, making long-term improvement more difficult. Our goal is to place every student in an environment where they will be challenged, build confidence through success, and continue developing a lifelong love of the game. We strive to make every lesson enjoyable because when students have fun, they want to come back—and when they come back week after week and session after session, they improve.
Beginner – Has never taken lessons or has taken only a few in past years. Working on making good contact with the ball and is not yet able to hit shots consistently over the net off a coach's feed.
Advanced Beginner – Has developed the ability to hit groundstrokes, volleys, overheads, and serves over the net consistently while demonstrating good fundamental form. High-level advanced beginners are able to serve and sustain short rallies with some degree of control and shot placement.
Intermediate – Has taken lessons for many years and practices and plays regularly outside of lessons. Able to serve, rally, play long points, and control shot direction, placement, and spin.
Advanced – Varsity-level or locally competitive players with many years of lesson and match-play experience. Able to formulate and execute strategies and tactics during competitive play.
